Please welcome back Lyndi’s Adventurous Friend Amber Daulton!
Into The Fire is a romantic suspense box set featuring 10 smokin’ hot, danger-filled novellas from 10 authors.
In my contribution, Ryan’s Temptation, beautician Chanel Leroc leads a normal, mundane life until she witnesses a serial killer at work with his latest victim. If not for her sexy new neighbor, Dr. Ryan Naylor, she’d be dead too. The police stash them in a witness protection program, but after the killer finds them, they take matters into their own hands and flee the city.
With fate drawing them together, they embark on an adventure of romance, friendship, and survival. Mostly importantly, they learn how far they’re willing to go to protect the ones they love. Nothing and no one will stop them from doing what’s right, even if that means losing each other in the process.

Excerpt from Ryan’s Temptation by Amber Daulton
He deepened the kiss and danced the tango with her tongue. Her sweet cherry taste rocketed through him. Yes! Delicious. Her breathy gasp filled his lungs as he trailed his hands to the hot skin poking out between the hem of her top and her waistband.
Chanel clutched him close and feathered kisses across his jawline. “More. Touch me.”
Fucking hell. He backed her against the stove and claimed her mouth again. She pressed her soft breasts to his chest and tugged on his hair. The burning in his scalp thickened his cock. The inferno racing through him blazed hotter as he squeezed her supple ass.
She gasped and ripped her mouth from his.
He fisted her long, silky hair. The shudder rolling through him stopped his heart, then jump-started the organ. He unbuttoned her pants and stroked the hem of her cotton panties.
“Ryan.” She gyrated against him, breathing hard. “We shouldn’t.”
“You don’t have a boyfriend, do you?”
“Of course not. I wouldn’t be here with you if I did.”
He suckled the smooth skin of her neck. “I’ve wanted you since I saw you lugging boxes to your apartment.”
She gripped his back. “Why didn’t you say something?”
He thrust his erection over her belly. “I thought you might’ve been dating one of the men helping you.” Though he hadn’t seen either of those men in the building since Chanel moved in. One of them reminded him of someone, as though they’d met before, but he couldn’t place him.
“Mason and Jim are both engaged to their better halves. You had nothing to worry about.” She tilted her head back as he licked the line of her throat. “We need a—”
“I won’t hurt you.” He clasped her flushed cheek and treasured her kiss-swollen lips.
“Ooh, I know, but…” She shifted out of his hold.
He groaned. No! Why? He gulped and lifted his hand to calm her. “Chanel, I like you a lot. I didn’t mean to insult you about being a beautician, I swear. You must like me, too, or you wouldn’t have kissed me back.” Please, God. He needed release. This sexy woman had twisted him into a pretzel.
“Do you have a condom?”

A taste of Nadja Petrov’s adventures @AdrianaKraft #NewRelease #Steamy #RomanticSuspense #MFRWAuthor
A desperate espresso café owner, a determined coffee franchise rep, a quiet Midwestern town, anonymous threats out of the blue—where does the true danger lie?
What would it be like to live in Nadja Petrov’s shoes, for even a little while?
Picture Kiev (Kyiv), Ukraine, suffering under the thumb of Communist rule in the 1970s. Find a neighborhood of unremarkable but tidy apartments, where the birth of a long awaited only child, a daughter, takes place sometime in 1976. The girl’s father works for the communist government, and they have adequate resources but are by no means wealthy.
Tall, blonde, and blue-eyed, the child Nadja is selected early for ballet lessons. The goal? The famed Russian Ballet company. She studies hard and attends ballet classes daily, where she is a star pupil.
What the free world celebrates as a victory – the 1991 end of Russian rule in Ukraine – is for the fifteen year old Nadja a personal disaster. The state-sponsored ballet lessons come to an abrupt halt. Her father loses his job, and finances become strained. For a while the family manages to continue Nadja’s ballet lessons privately, but in the hands of unscrupulous coaches, that process becomes a disaster and she quits.
Fast forward to 2001. Nadja’s father has died, and when her mother becomes ill, they decide to join her mother’s younger sister in the USA, where they can get better treatment. In spite of the best America has to offer, her mother dies two years later.
Would this scenario set the stage for an adventurous heroine? Now twenty nine, Nadja has learned a few things: Nothing is guaranteed. No one is promised. Men are either uninteresting or not safe. Self-reliance is primary.
Is she up for the challenge?
“If I don’t sell, how long do you suppose it will take before Java Beans has a franchise here?” Nadja asked.
“Depends.” Kevin shrugged. “I’ll have to spend much more time scoping out possibilities. I have a meeting with a realtor tomorrow morning. And I’ll meet with a member of the chamber of commerce for lunch. If we fast track it, maybe nine months. More likely twelve to eighteen months.”
Kevin watched Nadja’s nose twitch and her chin jut out.
“And if I have sex with you, will you go away and tell your superiors that setting up a franchise here would be a very bad idea?”
Kevin couldn’t close his mouth. Had he heard her correctly? Of course he had. His fingers curled into fists. He reached deeply for breath. “Whatever gave you such an idea? Do you really think I can be bought with sex?”
He winced. Her stare was fixed, not giving away at all whether she was bluffing. What would she do if he said yes? “Would you really do such a thing?”
“I’d do anything to protect what’s mine.”
It’s nothing personal…
It all seems simple enough—Ukrainian immigrant Nadja Petrov is determined to hold on to her thriving new coffee shop, Nadja’s Literary Cappuccino, and Java Beans District Rep Kevin Langley is equally determined to move into her North Iowa town with a franchise and run her out of business.
He scopes her out, she keeps a watchful eye on him, and the sparring begins. But there are other players involved, and the web of intrigue soon threatens Nadja, her shop, and her aunt as well as Kevin, his potential franchise, and his son. Within this cauldron simmers a sexual attraction between Nadja and Kevin that catapults them to overcome their fears of intimacy and commitment. Their lovemaking is tender and raw. Their love is nearly lost in tragedy—can it survive doubts, fire, and even a death?
Five Stars – Highly recommend! One hot romantic suspense I couldn’t stop reading… the perfect blend of blistering hot romance and suspense… it’s the character development throughout I am Not for Sale which makes this such an incredible story. NN Light’s Book Heaven

Report from team 17-JRG, star system 49x, 700 cycle-unit mark.
The forced gene sequence mutation continues on the dominant planet species. While sub-species show random mutations in line with our objective, none have spread as quickly as intended.
Our work with the dominant species continues to be thwarted by the species itself, as they believe themselves to be intelligent and empowered. They have developed various counteragents to the insertion of the forced gene sequence mutation. These seem to be distributed in relevant proportion to the concentration of what appears to be forms of government organization. In areas where there is less political organization and less affluence (as evidenced by the availability of food, shelter and personal wealth), we are having more success, as the population cannot obtain said counteragents. We hope to have fully transformed this specific population’s gene pool within the next 100 cycle-units.
The rest will take creative solutions if we are to alter the remainder of the planet’s population in time.
In response to the creation of counteragents, we have modified our active virus for greater transmissibility, releasing the twelfth mutation in the current time period with moderate success. It has spread to most of the planet’s land masses within a very short span. We have several more possible mutations prepared and set to be released if the counteragents and other precautions enforced by the political rulers continue to block our efforts.
It is unfortunate that some deaths have occurred in the course of inoculating this world with the virus. The counteragents have succeeded in ameliorating side effects of the process, and that is to be commended. As far as we know, the mutation perseveres even in these cases. However, the loss of even a million lives to save the rest is to be a debate for the ethicists, not the scientists. For now, we must continue to change the gene pattern of every living creature that we are able to affect.
It would be so much easier if we could communicate directly with the species on this planet, to explain that we do not intend harm, but in fact, seek to protect them against the invasion force that is even now on the verge of their star system. The Vigrat seeding ship has registered on our sensors, and will not be farther than 350 cycle units away. By that time, if we succeed, all life on this planet will be infectious to the Vigrat and they will have to move past to another system to colonize. This planet can avoid what happened to our own homeworld.
But our earliest attempts to interact were met with such violent rejection that we have withdrawn our representatives. All we can do is follow our objective and continue forcing the gene mutation until every last species target has been infected. This we will do until the Vigrat are able to detect us, then we must move on.
We will, as ordered, report again in 50 cycle-units. Team 17-JRG, signing off.
New Release: Let it Snowball–a Christmas novella that’s part of The Wild Rose Press Christmas cookie series
Welcome to Lyndi’s Adventurous Friend Margot Johnson!
Margot Johnson grew up in a family of writers and has always loved books and writing. She is the author of two, sweet romance novels—Love Takes Flight and Love Leads the Way and the Christmas novella Let it Snowball. A followup novella for Valentine’s Day is coming soon. Her characters can’t possibly find their happy endings…or can they?
Before turning her focus to the fun writing life, Margot held leadership roles in human resources and communications. Her motto is “Dream big and work hard.” When not writing, she loves to connect with family and friends, travel to exciting locations, volunteer with SK Writers Guild, and walk at least 10,000 steps a day (except when it’s minus 40!)
She lives in the Canadian prairies with her amazing husband and beloved golden retriever.
A little about my writing adventures…
I write feel-good stories about women who chase their dreams and bump into romance along the way. They live in small communities near my home in the Canadian prairies, and they count on an eclectic mix of family and friends to make their lives interesting and fun. I love the way characters take over and send me in directions I didn’t expect.
Merilee, the heroine in Let it Snowball, embarks on a new adventure when she launches a tour business. On the Merilee Christmas tour, she leads a bus tour to visit local cookie shops, and she and the passengers have some surprising experiences along the way. Merilee’s own recipe for Chocolate Snowballs is included below.
About Let it Snowball
Tagline: Christmas tours brim with lights, cookies, and…unexpected romance?
Divorced, empty nester Merilee is on a roll. Filled with scrumptious cookies and old-fashioned fun, her Christmas bus tours aim to add festive spirit to her hometown and new meaning to her lackluster life. Too bad her reserved driver slams the brakes on fun.
Widowed farmer Ross needs a little joy to combat his December blues. Behind the wheel, he wears a Santa suit but can’t muster a convincing ho-ho-ho. Too many memories block his road to happiness…until irrepressible Merilee sparks a snowstorm of unexpected feelings.
In two weeks of holiday tours, Ross might drive Merilee crazy…or will romance snowball inside their lonely hearts?
After a short drive, the busload arrived at their first stop. “You’re in for a treat.” Merilee leapt up, leaned over, and gave directions on where to park. Absorbing Ross’s delicious scent, clean like snow infused with a trace of peppermint, she jerked back and steadied her breath. Sudden, shocking warmth flooded her insides. Now where was she? She paused to gather her wayward thoughts.
“These rules apply for each stop so we can all enjoy the goodies inside and still keep the tour on schedule. You are free to choose from several platters of cookies. If you would like to sample other kinds or take some home, you can purchase as many as you’d like. We’ll stay for thirty minutes, and then I’ll jingle.” She demonstrated with a string of bells. “Last one back on the bus has to tell a joke or lead a song. If you agree, shout snowball.”
“Snowball.” In a chorus of voices, the group hollered back the right answer.
She lowered the mic. “What about you, Santa?”
He shifted the gear into Park. “Nobody’s going anywhere without me.” He straightened his hat and quirked a fluffy eyebrow.
She smiled, folded her arms, and tapped a foot. Her boots were pretty eye-catching covered in green and red toppers with bells on the toes. Maybe she could cajole him into some good-natured joking. “Santa, you know what happens to kids who don’t behave. You don’t want to end up on the Naughty List, do you?”
“Snowball.” He kept a straight face.
A Review from New York Times Bestselling Author Mary Balogh:
“I loved Let it Snowball. From the first page I wanted to book a place on Merilee’s nightly Season’s Eatings Christmas tour bus with its three stops at cookie shops to sample and buy. On the last page I wanted to book ahead for the Valentine’s tour! Margot Johnson has a way of making a festive atmosphere seem very real. Combine that with a warm and gentle love story that feels truly authentic, and you have a winner of a story.”
My writing tip: Don’t wait for the perfect idea or ideal moment. Just sit at your keyboard and write!
Inspiration for this story: I live in a place where winter storms and frigid weather are common. I also love Christmas.
Last year during lockdown, my husband and I couldn’t visit friends and family in person, so we delivered Christmas light necklaces to their doors and then connected online. We also bundled up for a walk on a minus forty degree day—definitely a chilly adventure! I can imagine my characters Merilee and Ross sharing similar adventures.
One wish: I love hearing feedback from readers. I wish everyone who reads Let it Snowball would post a review.
